At some stage during your infants development they will use a baby walker, most babies from the age of six months onwards are ready to get their feet under them, with the help of a supporting walker of course.
Baby walkers are a great choice for many families with a young baby because it gives your baby the freedom to explore their living enviroment without any danger. Its great for mums too because while you baby is anxious to explore, without a walker this can mean carrying baby around constantly which is not a good habit to get into. While we as parents love to hold our children it is critical to their development that they explore on their own too and your baby shouldnt rely on you too heavily to be held constantly.
It is recommended that at first a young child spends only a short amount of time in their baby walker as they can tire easily and are not used to supporting themselves, the muscles in their legs and back will need to develop and strenghten as they use their walker. You can gradually increase the time they can spend in their new walker as per the manafacturers instructions.
Baby walkers come in all different designs and can feature extras such as little activety tables that can be clipped on to the front to help keep your baby entertained. Many walkers also come with wheel breaks so you can keep the walker stationary if you choose.
